PMC1070 Senior Electrical Engineer, Critical Energy Infrastructure (Pittsburgh, PA; Onsite)

PMC1070 Senior Electrical Engineer, Critical Energy Infrastructure (Pittsburgh, PA; Onsite)

Our recruitment firm is partnering with a major U.S. energy infrastructure organization to identify a Senior Electrical Engineer for a high-impact role supporting essential natural gas infrastructure across the country. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced electrical engineer who wants meaningful technical ownership, field-facing project exposure, and the chance to influence the safety, reliability, and modernization of mission-critical systems.

In this role, you will lead electrical system design, optimization, and project execution for industrial assets such as pipelines, compressor stations, storage facilities, and related infrastructure. You will work closely with engineering, operations, safety, procurement, and project teams to deliver practical solutions that improve reliability, strengthen electrical safety, and support long-term infrastructure growth.

Why This Opportunity Stands Out

  • Direct impact on critical energy infrastructure supporting homes, businesses, industry, data centers, and power generation.
  • Senior-level ownership of power distribution and electrical systems in complex industrial environments.
  • Opportunity to integrate automation, monitoring, energy storage, arc flash mitigation, and modern electrical safety solutions.
  • High visibility across technical, operational, safety, procurement, and project stakeholders.
  • A strong platform for engineers who want both deep technical work and broader project leadership influence.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead design and optimization of electrical power distribution systems for industrial infrastructure.
  • Support project execution from concept through completion while balancing technical quality, schedule, budget, and business needs.
  • Review electrical studies and implement arc flash mitigation, fault detection, and safety improvement strategies.
  • Ensure designs align with applicable standards such as NEC, NEMA, API, IEEE, and related requirements.
  • Provide technical guidance on high-voltage equipment including transformers, generators, switchgear, and related systems.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and mentor junior engineers.
  • Support procurement, factory acceptance testing, commissioning, startup, and field execution as needed.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited college or university, or a relevant ABET-accredited Engineering Technology degree with a Professional Engineer license.
  • Eight or more years of electrical engineering experience in natural gas, energy, pipelines, compressor stations, data centers, plants, storage facilities, or similar industrial infrastructure.
  • Strong experience with power distribution, industrial electrical system design, electrical codes, high-voltage equipment, and arc flash safety.
  • Experience with tools such as ETAP, MATLAB, PSCAD, Simulink, or comparable power system analysis and simulation platforms.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills with a demonstrated commitment to safety.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Location and Mobility

This role is expected to be based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for approximately the first two years, with a later relocation to either Tulsa, Oklahoma or Houston, Texas depending on project and business needs. Candidates must be comfortable with this mobility requirement and frequent travel. Relocation assistance is not available.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer license or master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • PLC/HMI, instrumentation, FEED, EPC, commissioning, startup, or project management experience.
  • Experience managing procurement for electrical equipment and working with vendors or suppliers.
  • Exposure to grid integration, renewable energy systems, automation, or real-time monitoring technologies.
